Dr. Pruitt’s Approach

Dr. Pruitt’s approach to the neck lift is more detailed and precision-oriented than many others. He carefully and gently elevates drooping skin while reshaping and contouring the deeper layers of fat and soft tissue. The underlying muscle structures are tightened and firmed as the skin is redraped to achieve a more youthful, attractive appearance. This process requires more experience, skill, and artistry but results in a more natural aesthetic look and a longer-lasting result that will stand the test of time.

His clients enjoy a more sculpted profile with an improved cervicomental angle between the chin and neck. Patients often choose to undergo a neck lift in combination with a facelift and other procedures for a more comprehensive, age-defying outcome.

When to Consider a Neck Lift

Signs of aging often appear in your neck and jawline for various reasons. Sometimes they may simply be due to genetics and the natural aging process. You may notice an appearance that resembles your mother or grandmother at a similar age. Other times facial and neck aging can be brought on primarily by sun exposure or lifestyle choices over many years. These and other factors may combine over time to produce a look that appears tired or prematurely aged. Whatever the underlying causes may be, Dr. Pruitt has the skill, expertise and experience needed to restore a more well-rested, radiant appearance.

You are likely to be an excellent candidate for a neck lift if you wish to address the following:

  • Sagging or drooping neck skin
  • Creases and folds in the neck or face
  • A double chin
  • Jowls that hide your jawline
  • Vertical muscle banding in the neck
  • Loose, wrinkled skin

    Your Detailed Consultation Process

    Consultation

Dr. Pruitt meets with each client individually and carefully listens to his or her specific goals. If a non-surgical treatment corrects their area of concern, he will not recommend any surgery. If a surgical procedure is indicated, he will present the various options for your consideration. You will have plenty of time to ask questions and become familiar with Dr. Pruitt’s conservative approach.

    Medical History

Your medical history will be reviewed and a focused examination of your areas of concern will be performed. He will evaluate such factors as skin quality, tissue quality and volume, degree of sun damage, and many other factors so that these can be discussed with you during your consultation.

    Questions and Cost

Dr. Pruitt’s nurse educator will then show you photos of hundreds of previous patient outcomes (who have given their permission) and answer questions that may arise from these patient photos. She will look up the costs associated with each procedure and give you all this information in writing. If you decide to proceed with aesthetic surgery, a date can be secured and a pre-operative consultation will be scheduled prior to the date of surgery. This can be accomplished virtually for our out of town clients.

    Final Consultation

At this final consultation, the detailed aesthetic surgical plan will be refined, prescriptions will be given, medical photos will be obtained, paperwork will be signed, and any last-minute details will be completed.

    The Neck Lift Procedure

Dr. Pruitt is well known for his conservative approach. He prefers minimally invasive procedures and IV sedation with local anesthetic for most of his clients. Since these patients have no general anesthesia, there is no tube down the trachea and no machine breathing is required. An anesthesia professional is always present during the surgery, providing IV sedation and careful monitoring throughout the procedure. The patient does not feel anything and usually says they “had a very pleasant nap” at the end of the surgery.

Dr. Pruitt is extremely careful and gentle in handling the tissues during a necklift. His precision-oriented approach to manipulating the anatomical layers intra-operatively produces a softer, less swollen appearance after surgery, often little to no significant discoloration, and an expedited recovery period.

    Recovery

Local Dallas Ft. Worth area patients will spend their first night of recovery in a suite under the careful watch of a private caregiver before returning home to complete their recovery process. Out-of-state or international patients are asked to stay in Dallas for at least 7-10 days so that Dr. Pruitt can carefully supervise post-operative care. (Detailed instructions for the care needed are explained at the preoperative consultation, and a written copy is provided to each patient.) The patient can shower on day two after surgery and return to most normal activities a few days later- except for limitations on heavy exercise. Puffiness or swelling is usually resolved about 50-60 % after one week and 75-85 % after two weeks. Most patients can wear makeup and return to some social activities after two weeks – but individual healing can vary widely depending upon a multitude of factors. If a major event is planned, patients may feel that they are “photo ready” in as little as 6 weeks, although some will need more time to feel comfortable.

Different patients heal at different rates and it’s important to understand that your healing process will be unique to you. Dr. Pruitt and his team will remain available to you every step of the way. They will schedule multiple follow-up visits to his offices to monitor your progress carefully and ensure that any concern you may have is addressed.
