What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift (also known as mastopexy) can address aesthetic issues such as breast sagging or drooping, typically caused by aging, pregnancy, significant weight loss, or sometimes oversized implants. The surgery elevates tissue and repositions the nipple areolar complex to a more aesthetically pleasing, youthful appearance. Whatever the cause of your aesthetic breast concern, Dr. Bryan Pruitt can provide an extended consultation with you to determine the best option for your unique goals and situation.

Ideal Candidates for a Breast Lift - Mastopexy

Dr. Pruitt has developed a reputation for his precision-oriented, patient-centric approach and his natural-looking results. Patients often say that he is “conservative” in his approach.  He treats every patient on an individual basis, as no two patients have exactly the same goals or concerns. He will work with you to explore your treatment options and help guide you to the procedure that will most effectively meet your needs.

You are likely to be an excellent candidate for a breast lift (mastopexy)  procedure if you would like to address the following aesthetic issues:

  • Breast ptosis (sagging or drooping)
  • Breast volume loss or “deflation" after aging, pregnancy, or weight loss
  • Downward-pointing nipples
  • Breasts that droop below the inframammary fold
  • If the back side of the breast skin is resting on the chest or abdominal skin

    Your Informative Consultation

During your initial consultation, you will meet with Dr. Pruitt personally and he will listen to your concerns and goals, review your medical history, and do a careful physical examination. He will present all of the various options and explain the benefits and limitations of each. You will receive in-depth information about your choices and he will answer all of your questions in detail.

If you decide to proceed, his friendly staff can help you secure a date on his operative schedule and a date for your pre-operative consultation prior to the surgery. Dr. Pruitt and his experienced staff want you to understand the entire process and have a pleasant experience so that you can enjoy the benefits of your new look, and total peace of mind on your aesthetic journey.

The Day of Your Breast Lift

Your breast lift will likely take between two and four hours to complete. Whenever possible, Dr. Pruitt prefers to use IV sedation and local anesthesia in order to minimize operating risks, enhance comfort, and speed up recovery.

During the procedure, Dr. Pruitt will make incisions according to your surgical plan, choosing a periareolar lift, vertical mastopexy (lollipop lift), or a full mastopexy (anchor lift). The incision type is chosen based on your degree of breast ptosis and your individual preferences. Dr. Pruitt will then reshape the breast mounds, removing excess skin and tissue while repositioning the nipples for a more inviting and attractive physique.

    The Recovery Process

Patients may experience minor swelling and discomfort after surgery. Rest assured, Dr. Pruitt will prescribe the appropriate pain medications to help alleviate any soreness or tenderness in the treatment areas. You will be outfitted with an elastic bandage or surgical bra, and if required, drains will be placed to help escort excess blood and fluids out of the body.

Dr. Pruitt will provide detailed aftercare instructions, along with a thorough timeline for recuperation. You should be able to resume your normal activities within about five to six weeks of your surgery, at which point you can enjoy your newly sculpted physique and explore new clothing options. To get started on your cosmetic journey, reach out to Dr. Pruitt at his Dallas location, and set up your consultation today.
